What’s the Maple All About?
Who doesn’t like syrup, but I have converted to no-sugar.
Even though I never played the game (dad did at the high school level), I developed a passion for ice hockey in the mid-1970’s. As a Baltimore native, I started following the Washington Capitals in their second year of existence in 1974-75. The following summer, we took a family trip to Canada and I visited the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. Hence, my second team became the Toronto Maple Leafs. A decade later, I delved into fantasy baseball and my team needed a name. I combined the Maple with my last name and my team became the Maple Levys. Alongside my first full-time assistant Jerry Milani, the blue-and-white won a championship in the early 1990’s. And the Maple has “stuck” with me ever since.
